Our community thrives, thanks to independent small businesses - people who take a risk with a good idea and want to turn their business into something that supports their family. These small businesses benefit all of us as they create thriving high streets and a strong sense of community that many parts of London have lost.
I want to support small businesses in every way possible, from ensuring council services work for them to lobbying government to be aggressively supportive of the self employed. Young people should be given the skills and encouragement to set up their own businesses.
I also recognise that it is not just small businesses that benefit us. Large employers need to be supported too, including the NHS, London City Airport, Tate and Lyle and Westfield. These employers provide thousands of jobs to local residents and it is time we stopped using them as political footballs. We need to support these organisations and ensure the council gives them the policies and infrastructure they need to thrive.
An election campaign costs money and every penny raised locally will go directly into producing leaflets for our Newham Local Election campaign and winning votes. Whatever you may read in the press, local political parties only survive thanks to the generosity of individuals.
Please consider donating to our campaign. Every penny raised will make a big difference.
Under the Political Party Elections and Referendums Act 2000 (PPERA) you must be on the electoral register in the UK excluding the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man in order to make a donation of more than £500. If you donate more than £1,500 to the Party, we are obliged under the PPERA to report such a donation to the Electoral Commission, who will publish the fact that you have made a donation over £1,500.
